Alexander Mikhailovich Dykhne (October 27th 1933 - January 6th 2005) was born in Moscow.
In 1955 he graduated from Kiev Polytechnical Institute and since 1962 works in Russian State Research Center TRINITI.
In 1982 he was appointed head of the Theoretical Department. Since 1994 he is the principal of the Center for Theoretical Physics and Computational Mathematics.
He earned his Ph.D. in 1960 and Dr.Sc. in 1971. He became professor in 1973.
In 1984 he was elected the associate member of the USSR Academy of Sciences and in 1991 - full member of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
His main scientific interest areas were quantum mechanics, plasma physics, solid-state physics, interaction of radiation with matter and laser physics.
Most of his work is related to stochasticity, stability and nonlinearity problems in object of various physical nature.
His applied researches are devoted to physical principles of creation and application of MHD generators and powerful gas lasers as well as physical processes influencing nuclear reactors safety.
He is the author of more than 100 scientific publications, several investigations and discoveries.
He was the member of the editorial board of "Surface" journal, councils of "Surface Physics", "Low-Temperature Plasma Physics" of Russian Academy of Sciences Presidium, chairman of "Low-Temperature Plasma kinetics" section, member of Higher Attestation Commission Expert Council on Physics.
In 1986 he was the recepient of the USSR State Prize.
Since 1995 he took active part in education at the Chair of Atomic Physics, Plasma physics and Microelectronics of Faculty of Physics at MSU.
